There are some 32 grammar schools in Kent. This makes Kent the borough with the highest concentration of grammar schools anywhere in the United Kingdom.
If you’re interested in both Bexley grammar schools and Kent grammar schools, you may wish to also take a look at the Bexley grammar schools page.
As a general rule, grammar schools are considered to be better than state schools (and arguably independent schools (private schools), too) and Kent offers an array of grammar schools to aim for.
Do bear in mind, however, that not all grammar schools are equal. Within the world of selective schools, there is a big gulf in quality. As an example, Dartford Grammar school (a boys school), is far superior academically compared to Dartford Grammar School for Girls. These two schools should not be mistaken as one entity; they are two separate schools, distinct and independent in their own right, even though they share very similar names.
The table below lists all the Kent grammar schools with the area and gender intake information. Clicking on the school’s name will take you to the school’s official website. And as with all boroughs, your child only needs to pass the council’s single 11+ selection test (as opposed to passing individual exams set by individual schools).
