Parents interested in Bexley grammar schools and Kent grammar schools may also be interested in Medway grammar schools. All three boroughs use the GL assessment board, which means preparing for a GL exam will give pupils a good chance of getting into a Bexley, Kent or a Medway grammar school.
The table below shows the six grammar schools available in Medway.
| School Name | School Address | Boys, Girls, or Mixed |
| Chatham Grammar | Rainham Road, Chatham, Kent, ME5 7EH | Mixed* |
| Fort Pitt Grammar School | Fort Pitt Hill, Chatham, Kent, ME4 6TJ | Mixed* |
| Holcombe Grammar School | Holcombe, Maidstone Road, Chatham, Kent, ME4 6JB | Mixed* |
| The Rochester Grammar School | Maidstone Road, Rochester, Kent, ME1 3BY | Girls |
| Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School | Maidstone Road, Rochester, Kent, ME1 3EL | Boys |
| Rainham Mark Grammar School | Pump Lane, Rainham, Gillingham, Kent, ME8 7AJ | Mixed |
*These schools were previously single-gender schools before September 2025.
The Chatham, Fort Pitt and Holcombe schools are an interesting option. These schools have been long-established single-gender schools, however September 2025 sees them transition to a mixed school status. There may be a transition period where the schools adapt to this new reality.
For parents who are only interested in single-gender schools, this means only two options remain: Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School (boys) and The Rochester School (girls). This may result in increased demand for these two schools, which in turn may make it harder to get into the said schools beyond September 2025.
