Bexley council will be using Quest Assessments to assess the 2026 11+ exams. This is a change from previous years. Previously, GL Assessment was used to mark the 11+ papers (and before that, CEM was used pre-2023).
We can see that in a short space of time Bexley council has made the decision to use three different assessment providers (also known as exam boards).
So what does this mean for parents and pupils?
The good news is that in terms of content, nothing has changed. Previously, English (comprehension), Maths, VR and NVR was assessed. Now, the exact same subjects will still be assessed. So there is no need to worry about buying new resources and learning new content.
A change of assessment provider is something we have experience of. Some years back when our daughter, Safaa, was studying for the 11 plus, we started off with the knowledge that CEM would be the assessment provider. Midway through the journey, we learned the assessment provider would change to GL. We scrambled to buy all sorts of resources to make sure we covered all the content that was required. Safaa went on to pass all her GL 11+ GL exams, achieving 99% of the marks available in both Bexley and Kent. As a top 180 student, we happily accepted a place at Bexley Grammar School.
In hindsight, we probably didn’t need to replace our 11+ resource library. The CEM content was very similar to the GL content, but of course, we did not want to take any chances.
I hope our story provides some reassurance and comfort to parents who may be worried about this change.
We will be putting out articles looking more closely at the type of content Quest Assessment will be testing. We hope parents will feel reassured once they see the content is very similar to what GL assessed.
