There are four grammar schools in Bexley. Three out of four of these grammar schools appear in various ‘top 100’ school rankings nationwide. All of these schools have an excellent reputation locally.

Generally speaking, all Bexley grammar schools require pupils to pass the Bexley 11 plus selection test. In the case of Beth’s Grammar School, they also consider pupils who have passed the Kent selection test (even if a child has failed the Bexley test). The most important factor is the exam score, but Bexley council does take other factors into account when deciding who to offer a grammar school place to.
Around 7,000 pupils sit the Bexley selection test every year and compete for around 800 seats. The selection process is extremely tough to get through and this is why many families decide to enrol their child into an 11 plus tuition centre instead of self-tutoring.
