Registration for for the Kent 11 plus exam opened on Monday 1st June 2026 and closes on the 1st of July 2026. Please note, this is the real exam, not a mock exam held at one of the grammar schools in Kent.
The Kent test is specifically for entry into grammar schools in Kent. If you’re considering schools in other areas, your child will need to sit the 11+ exam for that specific council. There is, however, one exception to this rule: Beth’s Grammar School will consider boys who have passed the Kent 11+ exam even if they have failed the Bexley exam.
Please bear in mind that even if your child is assessed as grammar school eligible, it does not automatically mean they will get a place at a Kent grammar school. Admission depends on other factors, such as school capacity and oversubscription criteria.
Special Educational Needs or Disabilities
If your child has a disability or special educational needs (SEN) that could affect their test performance:
- Speak to your child’s primary school SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) before registering.
- The school may need to apply for access arrangements (such as extra time or modified test materials) to support your child during the test.
We would urge parents to make the task of registering their children for the 11 plus exam a top priority. We have spoken to parents who have put their child through the 11 plus programme but then missed the registration deadline, meaning the previous two years of attending an 11 plus tuition centre, sadly, were largely a waste of time, money and effort.
For 2026, the Bexley registration was brought forward by around a month and also closed around a month early.
